As some on here know, i'm looking at making some of the things for our cars which are no longer made, or that I can do a better and cheaper job with!

Had some conversation with Winu about the rear ladder, along with a million photos, so i've got a mockup design almost complete for that.
I'm also sorting out a sump guard, fuel tank guard and an exhaust guard, along with a proper Light Bar which will mount over the windscreen. Also looking at some freelander 2 stuff, if anybody on here has one.

So basically, I want to gauge some interest. What do people want? What is there a market for? What prices would people expect to pay?

If I can get some interest, and some positive feedback, it makes my pricing easier as obviously the more i make in a batch the cheaper it gets for those involved.

When I get some parts made up, people are welcome to come up to my unit and have a chat, try them, hold them and see what they think. Bear in mind though, that at the moment i'm doing this as a side line to what pays the bills each month; unless of course i end up with a massive amount of emails and need to bump this forward in the priority queue.

If anybody wants to chat, drop me a pm. We can do custom and one-off fabrications too, if anybody is after anything.

Oh, and if any tratter boys want to come along and see what I can do for them, you're welcome to, just hold off on the abuse :D

Simon.

Sump guard but with recovery points on it, ditto the exhaust guard. Dont know what it would be worth, probably £100-£200?

Sump guard with recovery points would be easy. Only problem is, if the sump guard is aluminium like all have been, could easily snap/bend if care wasn't taken. Are the mountings for the sump guard strong enough to take recovery stresses?

Would a plated or painted steel one be of interest? I know it'll be heavier, but could make it from thinner plate, and it'd be infinitely stronger, and it wouldnt snap in half from some over exuberant recovery.

As for exhaust guard, tubular, or made from plate like the old mantec one?

I got an idea :) , Air box mounting for L-Series or 1.8 K like in CT on the top of engine cover for higher intake.
This is a simple frame that bolts on cover fixings. ;) , or maybe a proper snorkel for L-Series ;) (for Left side of car - mantec one can't be used :( but mirroring shape is a good idea)

As last time, if some photos of mantec stuff it's needed (Sump, tank, exhaust protection) - let me know :D

If you want to send some more pics you're always welcome ;) makes my life easier!

A snorkel wouldn't be a bad idea, could make an intake plenum which heads into the wing area, and then a snorkel tube which heads up the side.
Could either do a mantec tube style or a more modern formed shape which closely follows the contours of the windscreen!

A painted steel one would be OK I think, might be cheaper too. The exhaust guard id be after would be the mantec stylee with decent rec points.

Steel would be cheaper yeah. Only concern with the aluminium recovery points would be strength under load.

Check your e-mail... some megabytes waiting ;)
-Ex guard
-Tank guard
-Sump Guard

the mantec stylee with decent rec points.

Mantec have a 9 point fixing hitch, so similar construction will be good ;)

Front one will be too weak if using only sump fixings. Chassis fixing is required (look @ CT front A-frame , fixed to rails and underbody)

Lots of megabytes I see! Thanks mate :D

Yeah i can add extra fixings to the guard, however, I'm concerned about the strength of the recovery hooks under stress

:D make a proper use of them.

in case of snorkel... there is a hole in wing to use... after old air resonator box. This will be no longer used when Raised Air Intake fitted ;)

It's used every day as testing range... :D

Still in case of snorkel

This solution uses old resonator box hole :

This is a Homemade solution (not mine), but show good way IMO to make it more "Pro" with using mantec shape but mirrored to LH side.

I'll be interested in "mantec style" because it will fit with my Roof Rack

That looks easy enough, just a few bits of black drain pipe, haha! Shouldn't be a problem, yours is a DI though with air box in middle, so would you want yours NS or OS? Is your air intake in the NS wheel arch same as that?

Small update, the spare wheel mounted ladders are now into the prototyping stage to see what works. I should hopefully have pricing for these sometime during this week, with a finished prototype by early August and into full production not long after that.

If there are people fairly local to me who'd like to come up and have a look once i get the finished prototype done, to leave feedback and opinions on here etc, then you'd be welcome to! Obviously Winu you're out of that, unless plane tickets from Warsaw to Newcastle are cheap!

P.P.S. After interest on Freel2 forum, we will also be doing FL2 underbody stuff, including an exhaust guard, which nobody makes, but people have expressed interest in one. These are also currently at the design phase, hoping to make prototypes early August. Trying not to do too much at once!

Some stainless steel anchors for the running boards.
I had some made by the Brother in Law as the originals fell to bits
They will last forever

You mean the sections which bolt to the underside of the car? So they dont rot away like most seem to
