Freelander 2003 tailgate problems

Im having problems with opening my tailgate, its gradually got worse to the point it rearly opens. I have tried to buy a tailgate release handle, switch and wiring but can only find parts for mk 2 freelanders
Any ideas?

If the tailgate isn't unlocking, then it's likely to be the microswitch, which is available as it's a standard sized switch. However you will need to remove the switch so it can be measured, and a suitable replacement order and soldered on to the wiring.
