I have returned from a trip away..My Freelander battery was flat . Recharge and connected back up.. Fuel gauge and water guage both not registering when key turned on..Sure there was petrol when I left..Topped up..Can hear the petrol pump kicking in and then shutting off..Motor turns over fine but is not firing. Historically it has fired up pretty much straight away.
I did unlock the door with the key rather than the Fob. Thanks

Welcome to landyzone regular playing with chipmunks at poker.
As you mentioned that the battery was flat. I would start with that first. Even though you recharged, it can throw Wobbly making your fob out of sync, as you said you were open with a key.
There is a fuel stop you could have accidentally knocked also that prevent starting.
1. Check the age of the battery more than 3 or 4 years as a replacement could be failing.
2. Reset a fob key with a new battery.
Lock your doors with the key the press 5 time of the key fob to resync.
3. Check out your fuel stop if triggered.
Uncle Nodge will be along soon

Where is the fuel stop? As mentioned the fuel gauge is not registering at all..Thanks..In the country will get a new fob battery next time to town

Memory serves me from thinking it below the near battery next to engine fuse and relay. A red button. Is there any smell of petrol when the pump active for a set period.
Check your fuses in the cab if any blown.
Thanks...I will sort out the battery for the key fob first .

I've known the fuel cutoff to trip if the battery is dropped into the tray, as they're on the same panel. However if the fuel cutoff has triggered, then the fuel pump won't prime, and the door locks also try to release when the ignition is turned on. As you said the pump primed, and didn't mention strange door lock behaviour, I'm guessing the fuel cutoff is fine.
The gauge issue also gives a little clue. It seems that the ignition is only partially coming on, which could be caused by a bad connection at the ignition switch. I'd be looking there first.

Put a new battery in the Fob and checked that it sent a signal..no change Fob does not lock or unlock Key does.. Engine was turning over..Now it isn't... Scanned Error code P1666..

Have you synchronised the fob to the CCU?

I'd be checking the ignition switch for bad contacts, as all the starting problems could be related to the ignition switch misbehaving.

Okay..at this stage the FOB is not seeing the CCU..I will try and get the EKA and follow through with that before digging deeper.. Thanks Nudge 🙏

There isn't an EKA for a 2002 model, as it uses a transponder in the key. The fob is for door locking and unlocking only, it has no control of the immobiliser, as that is handled by the key itself.

The fob issue is a red herring.

I'd be checking the ignition switch, which can cause the symptoms you have, and is known to give trouble.
