Freelander 2 Space saver spare wheel

Hi
Just bought a 2011 Freelander 2 HSE for 'She who must be obeyed"
It's fitted with 235/55 R19 tyres.
As it dosn't come with a spacesaver spare wheel and I hate the foam repair kits supplied I have tried to find one but only ended up confused!
Plenty of 17" and 18" available but few 19's and those are for Range Rovers / Disco's.
The question is.... will a Range Rover or Disco 19" version fit the Freelander ?
I guess an 18" might work in an emergency but concerned about any damage that may occur even on the shortest of runs.
Any help / suggestions would be appreciated.

The factory space saver is a 17" steel rim with a 225/65/r17 tyre fitted.
This space saver also has a sticker showing maximum speed of 50MPH or 80KMH.
Don't forget you'll need the jack and rest of the securing gubbins to prevent the wheel becoming a missile in an impact situation.

Fitting a factory sized spare won't cause any damage if used as per the instructions in the owners handbook.

The question still remains...
If I can get hold of a 19" space saver from a Range Rover or Disco would it
a) Fit on an FL2?
b) Not be preferable to a factory 17" just so we don't end up with a 'Wonky Donkey' limping down the road? o_O

As there's on ¼" in height difference between the 17" space saver and a 19" rim with low profile tyres, you'll see no difference in the vehicle. ;)

In answer to your questions.

A Disco Sport is a Freelander 2 in a frilly dress, so yes it will fit.
A RR Evoque will also fit, as that again is a FL2 in a different frilly dress.
Unfortunately wheels from larger Land Rovers or Range Rovers won't fit, as they have a different PCD, offset or centre bore.
Also make sure the space saver tyre you get will take the weight of the FL2, although if it's designed for the DS or Evoque, it should be ok.
 
I thought the Sport & Evoque had a different offset from the Freelander 2 ..... or are they within the right range ?

They're close enough for DS and Evoque rims to fit the FL2, but FL2 rims won't work too well on a DS or Evoque. ;)

Many thanks for the responses, much appreciated.
Based on the prices alone I think I will end up going for the 17" after all that!
I did try contacting the the Landrover service agent just for a laugh (I know.... waste of time)!
They came back with two what look like contracting responses.

1. "You will need to ensure that whatever you use is the same circumference as what is currently on the vehicle, otherwise this can wined the transmission up."
Not sure what the typo 'wined' was supposed to mean but dosn't sound good!

2. " Land Rover do not advocate changing any vehicle away from Standard. I cannot give any advice on taking wheels from another vehicle nor changing wheel sizes and tyre sizes."
A 'Cover my arse" response in case of serious accident or death I think :rolleyes:

That's funny.
Presumably it was dictated to an office clerk who didn't know what they were writing.

Axle 'windup' in this instance will be negligible, and cause no damage as temporary measure.

On a different but related topic.
Make sure you service the Haldex, rear diff and PTU, as all are liable to fail long before the official LR service interval.
These items should really be service at 30k mile intervals, rather than the 150k that LR say.
