Have you had the car put on a multi-system diagnostic?
A generic OBD2 won't help with other modules in the vehicle.

Unfortunately the Freelander 2 is really complicated, having over 25 different control modules, all connected by a network of data buses.
The vehicle needs to go on a full system diagnostic, so any relevant fault codes (there will likely be dozens of unrelated codes) can be used to identify the issue.

I'm not sure as to the relevance of this post in a door locking issue thread.

Unfortunately this modification isn't allowed in the UK now, as the vehicle will likely fail the annual emissions inspection.
It's also best not to mess with the crankcase vent system, as doing so can allow abrasive particulates to enter the engine, as well as allowing engine smells to enter the cabin. There's are many reason manufacturers pipe crankcase gasses back to the inlet, and none are for cosmetic reasons.
