Guys, We've had this Freelander for 12 trouble free years, Now a problem arises and I wonder where to start looking?
Some months ago it developed a fault with the central locking to the front [O/S] door. It took several depressions of the remote lock before the door would lock. It seemed to lock slightly on each depression but only fully locked after 4 or 5 attempts. I did my best to ensure the mechanism was free from dust/grit etcetera but it made no difference.
More recently, the O/S Rear door central locking doesn't work at all, and needs to be locked/unlocked from inside the car.
I wonder if the two faults are connected or co-incidental?
Can anybody advise me a way forward, without a trip to the local Landrover Dealer?.
Located in Goff's Oak, Hertfordshire, all advice would be gratefully received
Dennis Kelly.

It's best to use the fault, as the thread title, as it's impossible for others to search a similar fault, if all the threads start "Freelander 2 HSE". ;)

As to the fault. The most likely cause is the lock actuators are at fault. It's much more likely that an electro-mechanical item has worn out, rather than a more sinister electronic fault. So the best thing to do is change the actuators before they fail completely, preventing the doors from being opened altogether.

Do you have a spare key fob, have you tried that, if so does it make any difference, I had a similar problem intermittent opening of the door/doors it turned out to be the switch in the key fob worn.
