Hi I'm new to this site, I own a Freelander 2 which I've had for about a year.
I need to replace the rear wheel bearing, the problem I'm having is with the handbrake cable. Is there an easy way of getting the cable out of the back plate. I know the cable is held in by three retaining clips on the end of the cable but how do you release them. I've tried poking small screwdrivers down the hole, I've tried grinding down small nails and tapping them down the hole bit to no avail . I'm clearlymissing something.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You should not have to remove the handbrake cable to remove the rear bearing? only reason to remove the cable from the back plate would to change the cable its self, the end is only released from the expander if changing the shoes etc as in photos below.

To remove the hub bearing you need to unstack the hub nut then remove the nut and slide off the hub bearing.

Thanks for the reply I planned on removing the whole hub assembly then pushing the bearing out at work using a fly press . I think I'll buy a bearing pulley.
Cheers
