hi, my freelander 2 has a handbrake light fault showing , the brake is not on and i can usually clear the fault by quickly pulling the switch up and then down quickly. the handbrake will wind on and off but while driving the warning light will come on with a ding (handbrake fault come up on screen)any ideas . i can get the fault off while driving in the same way quickly up and down, any ideas ,thanks for reading.Kieron

I've put one on and its not coming up with anything, its an OBD11 fault reader (auto XS)

That's an OBD2 reader, which is useless on the FL2. You need a full system diagnostic device, like the Icarsoft I930 (about the cheapest) or other more comprehensive units.
Or get the codes read by someone else, or even a garage, but be aware that a garage will often charge more to read the codes, than you can buy an I930 for.
A multi-system code reader is almost a must have, if you're working on the vehicle yourself.

Good evening Nodge, i have looked online for the reader that you recommended but can not find it ,i have found a Icarsoft LR V2 which claims to read codes on the freelander 2 is this a different reader or is it the same but with a different Title. it also tells me that once i pick the freelander software that it will not download any other vehicle software ,could i would you know be able to download another vehicle if i pay for it or is i a vehicle only reader, thanks for helping( i know this is a bit more than my first question but i do have a Mercedes as well and would like to think i may be able to read any problem that may come to it) thanks again .Kieron

I think the I930 could be discontinued, but were still available when I last looked.
I think the LR V2 is a more advanced replacement, but I have no experience with it. As far as I know, it's locked to JLR vehicles, just like the I930 is.
I keep the I930 in my Freelander, but have much more advanced diagnostic equipment in my workshop, so no need get the LR V2.

Hi, the Foxwell NT530 covers most makes, ordered mine for all JLR models to use on my FL1 '04' & D2 '01' & my neighbours 09 XF Jag you can also download up to 3 or 4 other manufactures so it's definitely worth a look.

If it's the red brake warning lamp it's either low brake fluid (or the sensor playing up) or the brakes have a fault. Worth checking the brake fluid level. Lift the bonnet and it's under the plastic cover in front of the windscreen, on the driver side of a right hand drive FL2.
