Hi all,

Newbie to this site so hi, and was hoping for some advice please.

I own a 2011 freelander 2 td4 2.2 Manuel (150hp), and have noticed when accelerating that the cars struggling to pickup and over revving. Local mechanic advised and stated new clutch needed, possibly flywheel but won't know til it's on the ramps ( suggested likely to change due to 95k mileage).

Quotes around £950 for the work, using LUK parts (includes flywheel costing around £270). Is this a good price? Are these parts any good? It's a lot of money.

A friend of my mums is a mechanic who does private work, who could also do the work, if we were to provide the parts, which leads me to the question of what parts do I need for a clutch replacement?? Is there a booklet list of what I would need to order should we use him? Part numbers and that ( I would hate to order a kit to find out there was other bits needed, I'm sure if they were general bits he would have them. At the same time would give me an idea of the cost of different bits).

Thank you for any advice you can offer

Jenny
