Hi I’m new here and was hoping for advice, is the issue resolved with the diff on the freelander 2 and also where to buy mud and snow tyres 235 50r 18

Yes and no. LR had problems with the origional haldex version 3 on the early FL2. They soon moved to haldex version 4. Problems reduced but there were still problems. At the same time they changed the rear diff for a stronger setup with a better bearing and support. Again, problems reduced but they can still fail.

One of the main reasons for rear diff and haldex failure on the FL2 is lack of servicing. The oil and filter needs changed. Recomended oil every 20k miles and filter every 40k miles. If you don't the clutch dust will collect in the haldex filter and reduce oil flow so the pump will fail.
