Hi guys & galls,

I was surfing ebay the other day, and saw a FL1 for sale (very similar to mine) which still has the original LR radio & 6 disc changer installed...

Now, my FL had this unit installed when new, but the chap who had my jeep before me had replaced it with an aftermarket JVC Radio/CD/MP3 player instead.

Anyhow, as all you clued up peeps know, the freelanders that came with this radio & CD multichanger, had a different clock display in the dash, which also displayed the radio station, cd track, volume etc on the display.. As the radio unit itself didnt have a display on it..

However, since ive never had the original radio in, all ive ever seen on mine is the time in the display..

Anyway, this chap selling his freelander in a private sale says in the ad that its also a trip computer displaying MPG, distance to empty etc etc, and that you can scroll thru these options using a button on a the radio unit????

At first i thought he was talking ****, but when i was away this weekend caravaning, i thought about it and remembered that my last car (a 56 plate astra CDTI) had a switch like that!! For months i didnt think it had a trip computer, but then discovered a switch by the radio labeled BC.. I pressed it and that swapped the radio/time display to MPG/ distance to empty etc etc..

Does anyone out there know if this guy is right, or is he talking **** and just trying to sell his jeep?? Ive looked back for his ad, but it must have either ended or sold..

The only other 2 freelanders i go in owned by my friends, are both 02 plate TD4 S models, (basic i believe) and have a very different clock display to mine (only has a 4 chatacter display) They both still have standard LR radio's, but they have displays on the actual units themselves..

Can some of you clued up guys let me know?

Cheers.

Nver heard of it myself, i have a 2002 GS Td4 Auto with the tape head unit but the CD player from the factory had it's own display.

I would have thought it would be a crock of ****e, but will be happy to be proved wrong - then i can work out how to fit one to mine!

Cheers Elvis,

If anyone else on here has heard of it, let me know.. I think the original radio unit in my car was an R770? The head unit is long gone, but the cd shuttle unfer the seat is still there!! If it turns out it is a fuel computer (which i doubt) ill be hitting ebay to by one!

Any of you concourse types out there?? If so and you keep your FL all original, and you have the unit im talking about, let me know if the display does actually show MPG etc etc..

By the way, my FL's a a 00 XEDi 5 door (alloys, e/w e/m HDC, e/s/r etc etc - from what i can make out from the spec list before BMW bought them, the base was Di, then XDi, the XEDi at the top of the range??

R770 is the same as the one in Rover 45s, and no you cant find MPG or anything trip related through it. It only displays the CD info on the clock and it actually wont even work if it doesnt detect the clock plugged in.

The only other option you can get is a clock with built in Trafficmaster IIRC.

Yup IIRC, sorry i try not to use acronyms on the net that much.
