Hi guys, my gf freelander has developed a problem. It seams to me as is driving but with no boost. That’s how I’d describe it. Starts a drives fine no smoke but incredibly slow.

I’ve ran the codes and nothing stored but one code did come up (well not a code) but “low side fuel pressure sensor plausibility”

any help would be good?

Ideally you need to run a live data routine.
You're looking for very low pressure on the low pressure fuel rail.
The correct figure for maximum power is over 350kpa at full power output.
If the figure drops below 300kpa, then engine power will reduce massively.

Just noticed the lift pump isn’t operating when ignition is turned? Absolutely nothing coming from the wheel arch at all. Could this cause it?

Yes, no fuel pump, no fuel!
Check the supply voltage.

Sounds like the pump motor has failed, sometimes a smart tap will restore it for a short while!!

Hi Andy that’s very kind Thankyou.

it’s not starting at all now, and no lift pump noise. Is it possible (as it was driving earlier) that the hp pump was running the car with no lift pump?

Try a smart tap on the pump. The brushes wear and the motor sticks. I managed to get home once with a few sharp smacks!!

It will then confirm you need a new pump.

How did you get on using the method from Andy, if it turns out to be the fuel pump best to purchase a pierburg original pump as after market ones fail quite quickly.

Hi guys, just checking in. I replaced lift pump as I could hear it wasn’t working and it has fixed the problem. Amazingly it must of ran on just the hp pump for a short while.
