Im new to this forum and im sure the topic has been covered loads of times but would be interested in any sensible replies.
I have a 2003 freelander 1 td4. A few years ago Vehicle wouldnt start and so i replaced the high pressure fuel pump due to it failing and leaking fuel which is the norm i understand.
Same thing has happened again recently [car wont start] except this time their is no fuel leaking out anywhere but a distinct hissing sound can be heard when i turn the ignition on which i believe is coming from the front pump again. Both this sound and the hum from the rear pump switches off automatically after 1 minute.
Car will only start with easystart hot or cold.
Would a pump regulator seal/washer kit cure the problem and save me a fortune at the same time, or is a reconditioned or new one the only answer. The reconditioned one only lasted two years so am reluctant to go down this route again.
