Hello everyone ... my first post ... I'm in need of some advice and insight.
I've done a compression test and found that cylinder 2 has low compression - 370psi compared to 400 on cylinders 1 and 3 and 410 on cylinder 4. The car will start but smoke will build up up from the exhaust steadily (grey smoke) before the engine stalls (won't rev) with a metallic grind. The engine has filled with diesel by this point. Diesel is being sprayed under pressure from a mounting hole in the rocker cover (for the plastic engine cover). This is on the left side of the engine as you look at the front of the car. Please can anyone give me some advice as to how to proceed next? ... I don't have the kit to drop out the engine and replace it. Is it a dead car? or are there some seals that I could replace with the engine in situ? Clearly I need to remove the rocker cover but I'm unsure as to what to look for !! If anyone could help please ...

Sorry for the slow reply, this section of the forum doesn't get much traffic.

Are you saying that diesel is getting into the sump?

Where is the diesel leaking from (pictures?).

There's no reason to suggest it's dead. You just need to apply the correct fix to it.

I'm suspecting the high pressure fuel pump, but more information is needed first.
