Hi
So I have a fairly awful looking faded grey nudge bar fitted. Feels like it’s made of some form of rubber?
Any one had any joy with making these look better with a paint that doesn’t peel?

From memory the exact material designation is on the back.
They came unpainted in black (that's what I fitted to mine), but they also came painted in matt silver.
It is possible to paint them, but you need to use the correct primer, so you'll need to know the exact material.

Cheers Nodge,
I’ll remove it tomorrow and check the back.
… any idea on the part number of the o/s fog light that is smashed (look closely at photo). Seems there are a couple of different variates on fleabay

That's the surface mounted fog light, which I believe was only available as a kit.
I sold a new kit a couple of years ago.
I've still got a driving light kit, but not a fog kit.

Yes - surface mounted. The plastic surround comes off after removing a (very rusty and difficult) screw. The light itself bolts into the bumper (3 bolts if I remember). Back of the light was rotten and so no part number visible.

I’ll keep hunting - or look for something to replace them both with.

I've got a spot light kit available, if you're interested?

Certainly could be!
It’s a shame, as it is literally the glass on 1 light that has gone. I’m not looking to spend fortunes on something to ‘replace’ (gen. fog light kits appear to be £200+, and I don’t need most of the kit!)

Will the spots simply sit as a direct replacement?

Can’t seem to find a way to PM you for price etc. Guess that’s either a) me being a numpty, or b) some sort of lock that I can’t PM yet as I’m ‘new’ !??!

Just managed to grab myself a soft nudge bar for a facelift freelander 1 that has a terrible paint job done on it. Anyone know what's best to use to get the old paint off before a respray ?

one of these…?
If so, I had a great result using an etch primer (Halfords), and truck bed liner. Just gave the old paint a rough sand first.

…so was this!

When I got it… If you look closely, you can see it cracking all around the bolt holes on each edge.
I wouldn’t try to strip it after all these years, just give it a really course sand to give it some key and remove any loose bits, then build a really nice layer of undercoat - I gave it 3. And etch primer worked really well.
Then I think I must have done 3 with truck bed liner as a top coat. Really filled the gaps and gave a nice finish for a nudge bar.
