Hi all my 2001 kv6 freelander after doing a full engine rebuild and runs like a dream apart from the cooling fans not cutting in its not sensor and it does get hot enough . I have purchased a digital temperature control relay and a relay to take the ampage but can't make head nor tail of how to wire it up I'm disabled and can't afford a sparky to do it anyone have any ideas how it connects up its a three wire tcr many thanks in advance

The cooling fans run under ECU control. It's not simply a case of hooking up a relay to the fans. The ECU sends a PWM signal to the fan control unit. The fans are then driven at variable speed, depending on cooling demand needed. So when the AC is on, the ECU runs the fans at minimum speed. When the engine gets to 106°C the fans run at a speed above AC running speed. The fans progressively speed up as the engine approaches 115° C, at which point the fans run at maximum speed. The ECU also runs the fans if the auto fluid gets hot, applying a similar variable speed to the transmission cooling too.

You need to investigate why the fans don't run under ECU control as it's not really possible to run them correctly any other way.
