Hi , been having a few probs from my abs ( nothing unusual there !! ) i have been offered another ecu , but my ecu is 100410 and the one i have been offered is 100480 ! so i'm wondering if these are interchangable ?
Connectors all look the same mine is a 1998 diesel and the other one came off a 2000 petrol model
wonder if wabco changed the p/n for an updated unit ???

I have the online wiring diagram's from autodata and believe me you dont want to plugging in the incorrect abs ecu, some smoke may appear!!!...... Bide your time one will turn up or even e mail a few breakers on ebay and such like. I have a 2000 TD4 that I'm breaking I'll have a look at the part number on that if you like. Is it just the ecu your after???

had fault codes read today , and found out that i'v got a wiring prob on nsr sensor ! so i'v got to trace the wiring from the sensor to the ecu ! anybody know how this cable is routed through the car ? any help would be appreciated !! or if anybody is breaking one of these would it be possible to rob this for a few beer tokens ??

You can check the continuity of the wiring from the ECU back to the sensor at the ecu.
If it is a Wabco system ( with the ecu under the drivers seat )then remove plug C505 which is the plug with 9 terminals on it ,and bridge terminals 7 and 8 ( nsr )with a digital multimeter set to 2 - 10k ohms .Both terminal wires should be white . Expect to see circa 980 ohms for the sensor + a bit for the wiring. If you uncouple the sensor from the car loom just forward of the axle under the car and short out the pins then you will see a dead short on the meter .
I sympathise with you as the reason I have this info at hand is that I am about to do a thorough wiring check on our FL1 after having different results from different OBD readers .
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

well i checked the wiring today and it looks like i'v got a broken wire in my sensor harness so i'v got some rewiring to do !! going to scrapyard tomorrow , they have some freelanders in and i'll rob the section of the harness that i need !!

they are plugins so getting one of should be easy best of luck also you say yours is a 98 deisel it will be the old deisel and the td4 ecu will not fit hope this helps

the ones i'v seen at the scrappy are both pre 2001 petrol models , and according to the bible ( haynes man !! lol ) they are all the same untill 2001 so Hi Ho Hi Ho to scappy i will go !!
just got to suss out the routing of it !!

Careful! They mean 2001 model year not strictly 2001 cars! Some 2000 cars are actually 2001. So it ain't as straight forward as it seems, so you need to be careful if its in the change over period!

thanks for the info DD , i presume that as long as the connector for the sensor is the same i can splice the other ends into the harness near the multiplug ?
do you happen to know where the sensor cable enters the cabin as i dont want to be ripping all the carpets out of it if i can help it !!

TBH no I can't remember even though I've had the complete carpet out of mine. I'm not clear where you're saying the break is? Is it before or after the rear plug? If its after it you just change the sensor, obviously if its before it you've got to replace or repair the loom. The test method above is good for identifying which bit its in! The later models changed sensor types as well and did away with the phonic wheels on the axles but I'm not sure if it all came in on the 2001 model year or was spread out, so you can't just assume a sensor will fit either! The 2001 model years had the clear indicators front and rear but orange wing repeaters, whereas the early ones had all orange indicators;) yup I'm sad!

DD the break is in the main harness ! i did the test above , also i know that the sensor is good as i have just replaced it and rechecked it when i found out about the wiring fault ! so instead of trying to find the break in the wiring i'll replace with another harness which i know to be good !

That'll be fun!:D

Yes i know !!! thats why i'm trying to get as much info as poss !! think it will be easyer than trying to trace a break in a wraped harness !!!

welllll , i can always get as much of the sensor harness as i can then run it from where it enters the shell to the ecu !! making sure it dos'nt come into contact with any trapping points ? maybe from the rear wheel arch then under the front seats or along where the rear seat mounts then along the o/s sill to the ecu ! depending where it enters the cabin that is !! i'm hoping that the seats are out of the two in the scrappys so i might be able to see where the cables run !!

well , got the part of the harness that i needed, comes into the shell under the rear seats then travels under the sill finisher , dont know where it goes to from there as i cut it off as it goes under it , got some 5 amp cable going to solder and shrink wrap the joins and splice into main cable near the multi plug and hope this works !! wish me luck !

using the old ecu as it was tested with this and only showd up the fault with the nsr abs sensor , no signal , tested wiring which showed a broken cable replacing the cable SHOULD cure the problem ( i hope ) !
