Hi, I've attempted to replace timing belt but think I've moved cams as I did not lock them

Added to this when I originally lined up timing prior to removal of belt the marks did not actually line up, only the crank line is correct.

I am informed that sprockets may of been put bak on incorrectly that's why marks do not line up.

Anyway back to problem- how do I sort out this mess and ensure cams are correctly aligned.

Any help appreciated

Marc.

You have probably taken the belt off 180degrees out, it might be better to put the belt back on, and turn the crank byHAND one revelution, put the crank in the right place, then the camshaft a will need manipulating to get them right, be aware they are under Spring pressure so will want to jump of their high spots

Hi, Thanks for quick reply. I checked and rechecked timing marks whilst trying to align prior to removing belt. I'm pretty sure it's not out. Problem is that cams have been fitted incorrectly when head gasket was done prior to me owning vehicle. Because cam marks did not line up( approx 2-3 teeth out) I'm not confident with refit so I would like to reset cams correctly.

Thanks.
