Freelander 1.8 master cylinder and slave

Hi all,

On route the other day my slave unit broke away from the plate which was in poor condition, i have recently replaced the plate with a new 1 and also fitted a new master cylinder and slave because some little crappy plastic broke away from the slave bit, i am wanting to know what you do with the white plastic cap thing thats fitted to the end of the slave unit that as 2 arms going down to hold the steel rod down, do you do away with this?

Thanks for your replies if you understood any of this.
 
If I understand you correctly the white bit is nothing more than a transport retainer to stop the slave cylinder falling to bit's prior to fitting.

Yeah that sounds about right, Thanks for your help, i didn't think id get a reply so fast cheers, also i wasnt good at explaining the issue, i'll upload pics tomorrow, do you kno the steel rod that comes out the slave that touchers the clutch arm, should this have some play in it if you try to move it by hand? only it seems alittle stiff and im wondering if its that, that made the old slave and plate break in the first place,

The plate's are known for breaking, we have a freelander following on here-they can tell you more:welcome2:
 
fit the slave with every thing attached, when you first use the clutch pedal the two arms break and the clutch works, it is a retainer for the piston during transit and fitment,
