I wonder if anyone can help this new member out. I have an 'S' REG 1.8 and I have over filled the fuel tank. This has led to petrol pouring out from, what appears to be, the top of the fuel tank, running down the sides and on to the forcourt. I am now extremely cautious about refueling. Is there a valve on top of the tank that allows this to happen (I can,t believe that that is the case)? Or is the tank damaged? There is no loss in performance, or any indication that the fuel system is not working as it should. I have previously had Range Rover Classics and always had problems filling them, but only from pressure leaks from the filler caps. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.

If you lift the rear seat and pull back the carpet there should be a round cover to allow access to the sender unit fuel pump, could be, someones had this out and not resealed it propper !
Thanks Mondo. I have pulled up the seat and opened the cover. There appear to be two fuel 'outputs' on top of the unit. One is occupied by the fuel line to the engine, the other is not connected to anything. It is quite possible that it is intended to be a breather pipe and this is where the fuel is coming from on over filling - it certainly smells like it could be. Does anyone know if this 'output' pipe should be fitted to something? Or is it a breather? If it is, should fuel be coming out of it on over filling? Thanks .
