I have finally broken the lock on the drivers side which I have had to use almost daily as I leave a dog in the car and I dont want the motion alarm to be triggered. Just using one click on the fob does not stop the internal alarm and I have had a silly quote to sort out the lock. Any ideas please?

On a FL2 its a common fault on the bonnet switch just link it out on the plug to test.

Yep I put the wrong date in it is a freelander 1. Funny though I have a pal with a 2 that has the bonnet alarm problem. My Freelander 1 is all about stopping the motion sensor going off with the Dog.

There's 4 ways around it.
1: Don't leave the dog in the car, (It makes it smell horrible anyway).
2: Lock the car with the key, once it's been fixed.
3: Disconnect the motion sensor.
4: Visit and LR dealer, to see if they can turn it off in the software.

4. Last time I did that they charged me £80 for resetting a dashboard light.

You asked for ideas, not practical help, and I gave you 4.
If you can't afford the £250( which is a rip off anyway) then the free option is to unplug the movement sensor. It's location in in the roof lining, near the rear interior light, IIRC.
However it's advisable to sort out some form of door lock, as if the remote fob fails, you'll be locked out the vehicle.

If you're struggling for cash there's a guy on Freelander Owners Club on Facebook who breaks Freelanders and did me a fuel cap with key for a few quid, I'm sure he'd do you a lock and key very cheap. I would definitely get the lock fixed asap. Apart from security insurance companies would have a field day if anything happened and they found a defective lock.
In theory if you're good with wiring you could add a switch in the motion sensor cable to isolate it manually when the dog is in the car. Switches are cheap enough, it's just the job of adding it.
