Hello everyone,

In May of this year I purchased a Freelander 1 2005 3 door. It was a spare of the moment thing really as my previous vehicle was written off in an accident. My hobbies mean I needed a 4x4 and I always liked the look of the freelander and knowing a friend who owns one I decided that was the way to go as he rated them very highly as being reliable and solid.

I guess there will be some on here who probably see the Freelander as the poor Cousin to the Landrover and Range Rover etc, but I really enjoying owning it and driving it. I have joined this website as I am tinkering with a few minor issues and really need the advice from others who have most likely been there and got the T-shirt!

I look forward to being part of this community.

Hello Dan. I had a few reservations when I bought my K series recently but it's been good so far. I replaced the vcu straight away because I didn't want to be worrying g about it and put a set of new tyres on. If you don't already know, the tyres are very important, they should the the same type and with the same amount of wear all round. You are right about the Freelander being seen as the poor cousin to the rest of the stable but in some ways, it is the best. It may not be quite as good off road but it is cheaper to run and has less mechanical and electrical faults than the discos and rangies. Keep posting.
