Can anyone point me in the direction of a reputable company that sells re-conditioned IRD units , and how much I would expect to pay ?

I would rather not buy a secondhand one from eBay , and possibly be in the same position I'm in now in 6 month time.
The car decided to make a horrible banging noise last night , and on further examination today . The casing has ripped apart around the area of the driveshaft.

I'm a newbie to the workings of these vehicle's ,

Many thanks
Rob

+1 Well-respected company.

Well respected on here. I don't know if they're gonna want a busted one in exchange though. You may well have to pay for an outright unit.
Edit:
You are going to need a reconditioned VCU too as that is what broke the IRD in the first place.

Thanks for the replies chaps , Had a look on their website and appears that if the casing is damaged, then you just pay the surcharge on top .
As the car is not perfect , but we would like to get it fixed , going for the 2 wheel drive conversion , is a cheaper option.
Saves me buying a VCU as well , which as you say has most probably caused the problem in the first place .

Cheers
Rob

If you are going 2WD you will probably be OK with an IRD from a breakers.

Its usually only the bits that drive the rear pinion that go - ie the crown/pinion gears and the bearings in the pinion.
