Fouled plugs in Rover 3.5v8 SU carbs

Hi there, i have a series 2a with a rover v8 in it with twin su carbs. Ive only just put the motor in it and it runs a bit smokey but the worst thing is that the plugs keep fouling and going black. If i clean them, put them back in then its ok again for around 20 miles. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks

Yeah I thought so, is it easy to adjust the carbs?

Was it a motor that has been laying about for a while before fitting
Is it only one bank of plugs going black
Dose the engine start, run idle ok

Just looks like its running rich could need a carb strip or just tuning

what air filter u useing ?
