Hi all you fellow Landy lovers,. This is my first time on this brilliant site and I hope over the next few months, all you clever people are going to help me cure the many faults I have with my 2000 Freelander TD4 AUTO.
This is my second Freelander (Go on say it! You must be mad!) but I really do rate them as a means of transport.
The main problem I have with this Freelander is an intermittent Cooling Fluid loss. Some days it wont leak at all, other days it leaks quite badly and I get a small pool of Cooling fluid on the ground behind the Drivers front wheel? Any ideas?. I also want a set of genuine Landrover Alloys as this Freelander came with Steel wheels (Must be cheap).

Ow do forest dave, welcome to the forum. I have a td4 auto too.

1st thing to check for your coolant loss is the header tank, which is more or less about where you say you fouind the pubble of coolant. The caps sometimes need replacing, or sometimes, the tank ends up with lots of little cracks around the screw thread at the top. Best way to run the engine up to temperature then look.

however, the leak may be somewhere else in the engine bay, as fluids tend tend to run across the belly pan.

just a suggestion, as I'm sure you've already thought of this, but have you checked the aircon condensor drain, as mine drips down in this area too.

The coolant loss and the puddle may be unrelated.

as for the wheels, ebay is as good a bet as any, but make sure you get the right vintage wheels as some have differring offsets.

One more question. The clock in my Freelander is u/s and I can"t even see anything to put the code in for the Radio. Do you know here I can buy a new/used clock?

Repair it. The fix is on here somewhere - Willo???

Try some of the online breaker services for used parts, but there are different clocks out there depending on year, spec. etc. Welcome to you & your excellent choice of vehicle.
