I live overseas (Canada) and am looking for a land rover 'expert' to check out and negotiate a particular land rover purchase direct from the seller for myself in the greater London area. The purchase price is between 15 and 20 thousand pounds and i would be willing to give 5% for your trouble and expertise. You would contact the seller and ask for a test drive and report back to myself if the advertised auto is in good shape etc. Once i know its worth my time I will fly to the UK and meet up with you and together hand over monies due to the seller along with your commission. Once purchased, I intend to ship it back to Canada. Besides your time no monies of any kind are expected from you, you will be acting as my agent only. I have never purchased a car overseas so having a local who know the ropes makes sense for me. If you or someone you know who is mecanically inclined and knows land rovers is interested in this please contact myself.

sounds dodgy to me,if it was me i would come over as he said he would,sort out the vehicle etc,then get it shipped over.save the cost of paying someone to look at it for him.just doesnt seem kosher to me.

Scepticism is healthy and to be expected, but as i mentioned I am not asking for any monies period. The auto is question is over 30 years old. Quite frankly i have more money than time so am more than willing to compensate someone more educated than myself to check things out before getting on a long plane trip. Now that we have all that out of the way anyone out there with more time than money who wants to help out a car collector and themselves at the same time?

For your money you can buy a brand spanking new landy or a landy well within warranty (depending on what model you are after) from a main dealer. You could also buy a brand spanking new left hand drive with a 300tdi engine for only £16,750 from here....

I suppose would be the same as if someone from UK would want to buy an old Dodge charger and asked someone in the states to have a look around.
It's a strange request, usually thought to be a scam, but its true he doesnt ask for any money, just someone to go and have a look.
