Well Merry xmas to every one
well last night about 7 ish b 4 the festive cheer started to flow I got a phone call. yep you guest it one of me fair wether freinds had got him self well and trulley stuck in the festive slippy stuff. So off I goes in my trusty old disco mildrid to drag out said freind.
1 hr later freind sucsesfully dragged out of hedge and ditch at side of very snowy road much to his joy.
But on driving home as I rounded the last bend there was a masive bang and the back end of the car shot sideways OH ****. doris cried wot the **** was that. I said bloody car must be stuck in diff lock I'll check when we get home.
So parked the old shed on the drive and jacked up one corner and you guessed it could only turn the wheel a little way before all the slack in the transmission taken up stopped it turning yep diff stuck in lock me finks np out come spanners 13 mm on CDL stud deff disengaged still no joy. so jacked up the front corner as well and made sure there was no wind up. yaaaa diff lock now totally disengaged dropped front corner on drive again just to make sure turned rear wheel and it turns but feels chrunchy!!!
So thought I'd see if the engine would spin it so started engine and yep it turns but sounds like a fookin road drill so I recon the diff is now ****ed well and trulley.
Now I know I can drop the whole gear box out as I have done b4 but I no longer have access to a pit / ramp to do this so it means doing it laid on ma back under the car on me drive. I also know its possible to take out just the transfer box but this also me finks could be very dicy with the weight. so my question is is it possible just to take the front output housing off from the transfer box while its still sat in the car? any tips either way would be of great help cos xmas dinner is cancelled till its fixed !!!!! :frusty:
