Some one i have been talking to is now in to defenders, hes had enough with the series. He says he has 2 wings, doors, windows and stuff for me for FREE :D, Just waiting for him to dig them out. Then i may just rip the sod off.

bluddy hell - where do you find all these mates from?? its only going to cost you about £10 for rebuild at this rate lol.......
did you see the bit about get together next sat at my place????

Ha ha, all my mates claim to come give me a hand but do they come, do they F**K. I saw a defender on a guys fromt i pass often, caouple of days later he was taking the bulk head off. I stopped to chat and he offered them to me.

Whish it would cost a tenner.

Would love to make it over, im working Saturday and Sunday :( My days off this week are today and Thursday, so its a toos up of working at the garage on Thursday for a few quid in the pocket or play with betty

Will PM you the link and number for the bloke in Barnsley.

its a shame all the blokes round here taking things off only want to sell for ridiculus prices.... however have got in with one bloke just up the road who is into offroading and has loads of lads round all the time, keep chatting away and getting advice from them, just waiting for the moment they all say lets get it up here in the garage and get it finished quickly lol lol lol lol

depends if you want to take your wings off every other weekend.
personally i'd just refit with mild steel nuts bolts and washers, and make the captive nuts.

Having trouble with the old ones, so was going to buy new.

 Right i'm ready for selling or weighing it in. Still stuck with 3 bolts on the wing going in to the bulk head. any ideas getting them out without taking a grinder to the wing then grinder to the bolts. :(

Top is out and second one down is rounding off, No socket fits.

Bottom 2 are flat screw heads

Get a good pair of grabs and turn the whole lot - but by the washer if it rounds the head of the bolt off. Either that or make a slot to turn it by - either in the washer and knock that round (the likelyhood being that the bolt will come with it) or put a notch in the bolt so you end up with a head that you can turn with a screw driver.

Or can you get to the threaded part of the screw from the other side? Turn it with a pair of graps by the screw if so - just enough to free it off. Use WD40/Molcule13/etc before doing it :)

For the flat-head screws you could use an impact driver if you have access to one.

Have you tried whitworth sockets?

Try squirting some diesel into it and leave overnight. Tap it sharply before trying to turn using pliers or molegrips. You may have to drill them out. I used my grinder on the bolts holding the engine cover on a Dodge 50 last year and made up a new captive nut system welded to a metal strip.

Ok, so i got out of my cot and picked up my toys :D and though. I'm putting in new footwells right, so proceded to cut out the old footwell to gain access  Anyway then the alarm sounded, time to collect daughter from school. I quickly grabbed a few shots and off i went.

Was not a good start for me this morning, thats why i got ****ed off so easy. It also seems when ever i get chance to do owt, its ****ing it down. The last time i really did something on it was before the 27th of feb, lacking tools (even the basics like a jack) very limited on spanner and sockets so the more basic jobs tend send me over the edge. Most of the tools and stuff me and my dad used for both our landys are at his house, because he's putting the 2A back together slowly (due to his health). So they can't be in 2 places at once.

I'm getting there with the tools, been on the scrounge today and negotiating deals on things on local forums.

Heard there is a landy show over here in Sheffield this month if your interested (just up road from me as well). Its the first one i have heard of around here, just waiting for more details. Will keep you posted if your interested ?

yeah i be interested in that show, just pm me details and we can make arrangements to meet up, i know what you mean about the rain cold etc, i have managed to talk the other half into letting me paint some stuff in the kitchen as told her it needs to be at a certain tempreture lol.....
i am limited with tools but getting there slowly too, it will come eventually, hopefully before my funeral lol

Got some more done today, Drivers wing is off :) Just having problems getting the steering box off, to give us clear access to the whole footwell. With the trouble i have had with the bolts, that hold on the wing. I ended up buying a whole new set.

OOPPPS, going to need a new one of these, been wacking it with the hammer and its still not coming off. What is it i will be looking for to buy a new one ?
