Footwells

i get it transfered to my phone so when your feeling a bit dejected we can play it to get you going again.... and if your a really good boy i might bring the real thing to see you lol

Got them ready for Saturday, got someone weliding them in and giving lessons at the same time .




Also pick my self up a OLD but FREE 50lt compressor Tuesday night. Just waiting for tools now.

Got the footwells from Paddocks, and the compressor from local forum. Just need some air tools now.

theres a scrappy near me thats gorra 1200 ltr compressor for £50 wish i had the bottle to bring it home but im gonna build me own when i can lay me hands on a decent enough pump ( gorra 5ft propane bottle sitting in the yard doing nowt )

i have a 17 ltr bottle with quicky couplings on so i can disconnect it and use it remotely if needed.

With all this, i hope i can get something done tomorrow. Knowing my luck, ill get rained off :-(

What would you guys reccomend painting the footwells in after they have been welded ? Got some pound land black primer till i can order some good stuff.

If it's just temp protection. And you're gonna strip it back afterwards and re-apply a decent base, then anything will do short-term.

Although you'd have to make sure it was stripped back properly, and cleaned etc. Hardly seems worth it TBH.

A litre of RedOxide primer is a worthwhile purchase for post welding protection and other bare metal work...........

Ok, so with all the wind and rain down here in Sheff. The welding was called off. The guy doing it did not fancy sitting in the rain welding (dont blame him to be honest), also the wind had trashed his fence.

Any way i got the passengers wing off (what a bastard) and got started on the drivers side. I was stood in the rain, cold and wet that wet the overalls, fleece and trousers right down to my under crackers was **** wet through. They became restricting and heavy so gave up half way through.

So got this far, while the wings will be off, is there anything i could be cleaning, topping up or maintaining while there off ?

well you could and clean my springs up while i am away on jollies lol..... heard it was bad up here in yorkshire this weekend but didnt get very much down in brum......
i am amazed sometimes how these little easy quick jobs turn into a full day but what fun especially when soaked to the skin........

If yer looking for summat to do while the weather clears here's what i did, maybe it'll give ya some ideas ?:

Waxoil or Dinitrol blasted up behind the exposed bulkhead areas - the void just below the vents.
Blower motor and Heater Matrix got a nice new lick of paint and new hoses
Whip the Rad out and flushed it, and replaced the hoses
I blooped a load of thin oil on the springs and shackles, too - makes them work a bit better.

Once the footwels were done, I belched a good load of waxoil inside the A Pillars, too BTW.....

Been out today and done some more in the rain (always seem to reain when i want to play). Any ideas how to get the drivers wing off, if the bolts/screws are hard to get out ?

This wing must have been off before and have not got the right (original style) bolts in, its a mixture of screws and bolts

same as mine, just persafere, keep at it, it will come off eventually...... and beside i thought you would be used to the rain, dont it always rain darn sarf

Which ones are fooked fella ? If it's in the A pillar it's the same as the pass side, 4 bolts in spire clips, a fistful of bolts/nuts in the inner wing, and a few into the front panel. Don't forget the mudguard panel up top if it exists and the steeringbox cover, too.....

Yup its the 4 in the bulk head, got the top one off. 2nd one down just ground to a halt half way out and the bottom two are screw heads just like roofing screws.

Just waiting for a jack and some axle stands, so i can get the wheel off and sit in the wing to get a good view and hold of the rachet.

Just worrying about if the dont come out, how would you get the wing off ?

Roofing screws ??? FFS - bloody people. Are they in the same position as the original holes, or just shoved in haphazardly ?

The stuck one you could probs back it in and out a few times to free off all the crud, and it should slowly break free, but the roofing screw ones, if they're borked and rusted up, you'll have to try and tease them out without buggering the head, or try to punch them in with a drift, and recover/remove/grind them once the panel is orf. I Can't see a drill fitting in the cavity easily to drill em' out.

They are all in the right location, will have to go on the hunt for proper ones when its off.

Whats a drift I'm guessing that will get them if so i can recover/remove/grind ?
