Hi
Only had my 52 discovery for around two weeks. Driving home today and we had a major thunderstorms and the roads were awash with some massive puddles. Anyway rain stopped and about fifteen minutes into my journey I could feel my left foot get extremely hot. It was up against the centre console, sory of where a clutch may be. It alarmed me a bit and as I pulled the rubber mats up, there was quite a bit of dampness there, but didnt smell mouldy or old. The carpet near edges was hot to the touch too.
I'm no expert but at first I thought the heat could be to do with the exhaust pipe underneath the car, where perhaps the heat blanking plate has gone (not sure what its called but it looks a bit like lead was similar on my Escort.)
As for the moisture, the roof is dry, and if there was some sort of leak from above footwell I would assume it would hit the top of rubber mat which would retain the water which I would have noticed. The opposite footwell was also slightly damp, but not as much. Could it feasibly have got wet from splashing through a load of puddles - or is there a more sinister leak finding its way in from somewhere?? And is that heat normal? Has something got too wet from underneath and giving off steam/heat as it warms up?
Think I will get it checked out anyway but just curious - I have heard that every Disco leaks from somewhere ......
