Fluctuating Temp Gauge

Hi

I've had my Disco Series 2TD5 for 5 weeks I've had no problems so far and driven 1300 trouble free miles

But.........

On Saturday I noticed the temp gauge read normal(middle) then drop down to a quarter and then back up to the middle again after 10 minutes. I've checked the water and that's spot on

It was fine on Sunday, I only drove 10 miles BUT today it's done the same again

Any ideas??? I'm not too alarmed as the gauge is dropping or should I be?

Those are (almost) standard signs of a dodgy thermostat or air pockets in the coolant circuit (although you say coolant level is ok). Try changing the 'stat and you'll check the 2nd possible cause in the process (which should have a cause of its own).
