Standard Disco wheelarch protectors are glued on, with double sided tape I believe. After-market you can do what you want, it's all yours.

Personally I'd use some kind of epoxy resin ...
 
:D you need pannel adhesive. its similar to seam sealer in a mastic tube but it bonds to auto body pannels and wont deteriorate or come off. if you do need to remove it at a later date then pannel wipe will fetch it off without damage to the paintwork after you have removed the bulk of the adhesive. you can get pannel adhesive from any auto paint suppliers. if you remove the interior pannels in most cars the inner waterproof lining is stuck of with this pannel adhesive along with many external parts.
you can get a double sided 'foam' tape that is used at car factories to stick body strips, badges ect onto car body work this is also available at any auto body paint suppliers.
