Will probs blow something up, it will proberbly just trick the engine into thinking it needs more fuel causing loads of black smoke and a dead egr valve.? I've just had my transit mapped ( not chipped) by kudos remapping, it's trailered to my van and driving no black smoke miles faster and 2 mpg more would recommend them to anyone.

Its a generic mapping. To do these things properly you need a tailored mapping as all engines are different even though they are all TD5s. It will not give optimum performance but just a general improvement. For the money, and as long as you know what you are doing to install the chip, then its a cheaper way of doing things. The specialist tuners that make tailored mappings do not supply generic maps and its their time and experience you are paying for. When I had mine done by Gary at Alive tuning he had the car (and me) for the best part of a day until we got exactly what I wanted without any problems such as over fuelling and smoke on acceleration.

As with all things you get what you pay for.

You get what you pay for.(brit part or oem or factory) Fancy shinny package and ebay cheap price=trouble. There is no one to care about what they sold you after they got your money.

Places like Alive tuning are UK company and have a reputation to up hold. Not the e-bay seller who has no reputation at all.

How long will it be before you have problems. Is it worth a 4k gamble for a new motor?

yesssss but if you look on ebay, they are offering it at postage price ??? im saying do you reckon that they are genuinly giving them away ???

150 ? thats cheap might try kudos, where are they based ?

If you read the small print they say that you've got to have the kit to do surface mount soldering.

And dont be thinking you'll get away with using a normal soldering iron - no matter how small the tip.
Gary used a specialist soldering gizmo that solders and desolders ALL pins on the chip socket at the same time. Even then its fiddly work. I'd never attempt it eevn with the right gear. My clumsy mitts just aint delicate enough.
