Hi guy's, I have yet another fault with the infamous tailgate on my freelander....
This time the tailgate glass seem's to have a mind of its own dropping whenever it feels like.
The only ongoing pattern seem's to be when i come to lock the vehicle it will occasionally drop the tailgate glass, other than that it will drop when it wants.
It does also appear to happen more frequently when raining.
Just wondered if anybody else has encountered this problem before I start stripping the tailgate trim off.
Any help is much appreciated folk's :)

Is it a 3 door hard back as the roof micro switch can cause issues, also a poor battery connection can also cause issues, as if the power drops off the window will drop.

There was also this from L/R but its not exactly your problem

Bulletin N o : 0069
Freelander CDS. ref: L8652bu
Issue: 1
Date: 23.05.01

AFFECTED RANGE:
1A 5767654 to 1A 599999 All 2001 Model Year
derivatives in VIN ranges: 1A 300000 to 1A 315095

PROBLEM:
INVOLUNTARY OPERATION OF TAILDOOR GLASS - CENTRAL CONTROL UNIT (CCU).
The taildoor glass moves to the fully lowered position without driver intervention,
while the vehicle is parked with the ignition turned OFF.

CAUSE:
This is a rare condition which can occur due to a software error within the CCU
resulting in a susceptibility to external interference.

ACTION:
Where the customer describes a taildoor glass having operated as described
above:
•Confirm initially that the window drop facility, which is a feature operated from
the remote handset, has not been used accidentally.
•On 3 door Hardback derivatives only, confirm satisfactory electrical and
mechanical operation of the ‚roof off™ micro switch. Refer to Technical Bulletin
0036 for details of the micro switch setting procedure.
•Where satisfied that none of the above conditions apply, replace the CCU with
revised unit YWC000031. Refer to Workshop Manual repair number 86.55.75 for
replacement procedure.
•Programme the replacement CCU to market requirements using T4/TestBook

Mine doesn't want to lower using the up/down switch. Really weird I tried recalibrating already.

Is the rear wiper working ok, does it rest off the glass and on the rubber strip as it should... the dash rear window switch will not work if the ccu does not know the wiper position, the window will still re calibrate though.

Hi boobadog. Do you know by any chance the calibration procedure for the "roof off" micro switch?

Is the rear wiper working ok, does it rest off the glass and on the rubber strip as it should... the dash rear window switch will not work if the ccu does not know the wiper position, the window will still re calibrate though.

The wiper isn't working right. I'll replace te wiper bad see if that works. Do I need a special order for the wiper or can I just buy it at an autozone or oriellys?

As far as I can remember the Micro switch is just a open and shut condition, if the gap is too big then when you go over a bump it can actuate the window.
The switch can be faulty also, if yours is a 3 door hard back than that's where I would look at first.
If you don't solve the issue then I will ask one of the lads in the workshop their thoughts on the issue.
