Fitting Terra Firma shocks

I am trying to put some terra Firmer standard length (TF116) shocks to the front of my 1989 110 V8. The problem is that the bottom pin of the shock protrudes too far beyond the base of the spring and rests on the axel casing. Has anyone else had this problem? Also looking for advice on fitting them as they only come with 2 washers for the bottom and 2 for the top. Am I right to assume that there are 2 washers and one bush either side of the base of the spring as per the standard set-up? If its only one washer either side what stops the pin from moving around in the hole? (The hole is no longer round and is slightly oval shape, hence the standard 4 washer configuration)

The suppliers advice was to cut a bit off the end?? Any help or thoughts very mush appreciated.

Are these shocks even worth fitting? They seem to be a good average between price and quality.

Sounds like ye should be re-usin' yer cupped washers (the ones that fit either side of the bottom bracket. Here's a couple o' photies of the rear one.. the principles the same.....

Thanks so much for the info. Unfortunately the Terra Firma shocks did not come with the washers that hold it in place within the spring seat but I will get some. Great pics by the way - a real help.

Hi, great info. I'm currently fitting Terrafirma TF117's to my 110 rear. I've literally copied how LR did it with the OEM ones. My rear axles have cups, so once I pushed the shocks in I've applied the bottom bush and new washer, then nut. TERRAFIRMA supply more washers so you can sandwich the bushes.

Now on my old old old Discovery, I did this with a Scorpion shock, and it sheared of the bottom thread.

I suspect I should remove the cup?, but left it there as the LR one was fitted the same.

more likely poorly made shocker

Certainly not poorly made, and a better condition than the LR ones I removed
