I have a 2001 P38 diesel 2.5 and I want to fit some DRL's to the front of it but don't know the best place to get an ignition controlled feed so that when I start the car the DRL's illuminate.
Thanks

Sorry but I am a novice where the P38 is could you please expand further as I don't know where the BECM is or where on it to look.
Thanks

will need to be programmed by a garage or someone with the correct diagnostics equipment.

although once programmed it usually puts the front and rear sidelights on during the day.

id just want the front ones on.

Thanks for that, we have a Landy garage local to us (Landrover World) so I will pop down and see them although I was hoping to save money by doing it myself.

There is a setting in the BECM for daytime running lights.
I tried that setting on mine using me Nanocom, it made no difference weather selected or not I had no DRL's.
I do recall reading something in Rave about it only being used for certain markets, maybe that's why.

Edit. Just found it, copied from Rave.

Daytime Running lamps
This feature is a requirement for vehicles for the Canadian,
Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish markets.
On these vehicles, with the engine running, daytime
running loads will be active regardless of the state of
any switches.
This feature will in no way effect the operation of any
of the other lighting systems.

Maybe it's just for selected markets & by default it's turned off in the UK.
Now would a locked BECM allow you to change this, or would it need to be unlocked, I know mines locked.

Had a play with that setting a few weeks back using a Nanocom Evolution on my UK, 2001 car.

Choice of No DRL, Sidelights, or dipped headlights.

UK market was no DRL by default I believe. Sidelight setting will not stick (suspect it is because mine is set as a UK car and I believe sidelight DRLs were not legal back in the day).

Headlight setting will stick though if you want it.

Tail lights come on as well. So might as well just turn the switch yourself!

My BECM is locked.
