Struggling to fit main auxillary drive belt on land rover discovery 300Tdi. Pulling back the tension arm but still seem to be short by a couple of centimetres. I've double checked it's the right drive belt. Can anybody offer any advice or tricks of the trade to get it back on?

Cheers

Put a spanner or socket on the tensioner (pulley bolt) and it should lift up well out of the way!!
New belt should go on realy easily, measure old belt with new belt, sounds like you have the wrong belt!!!!!

just ensure it's not putting too much strain on any bearings. you do this by checkin how much 'push' you can get on the longest run.
it should be roughly 1/4"ish.
if it more yer belt will slip any less and yule knacker what every it is driving
