Hi all, got a 2006 Td4 Freelander. I've got some LED spotlights I took off my old L200 and was thinking about fitting them to the Freelander. Has anyone fitted spotlights on/around bumper? If so where and how? I know there are brackets available but heard they will only fit a pre facelift model.

Any help/suggestions really appreciated.

Cheers
Tim.

if u do a search on here there's quiet abit of info inc pics of the brackets etc

Hi Tim

I fitted the genuine long range spot lamp kit the other week to my facelift TD4. They bolt on to the black part of the bumper. Running the wires and looms was really easy, and didn't require removing the bumper. The whole kit was only £50.

Fitting your own LED kit should be fairly simple regards to running the wires, however I know nothing about the brackets I'm afraid! My instructions led me to run the wire along the top of the radiator to the battery, then to the grommet behind the engine bay fuse box. From there it went in behind the glove box, and ran along behind the dash to be wired in behind the speedo, then dropped down to the fuse box and to the new switch which went in the little panel strip to the right of the steering wheel. They were all genuine Landrover wiring looms and switches, which made it literally just plug and play all bar one wire that had to be spliced.

Hope that's of some help at least!!

Cheers gstuart, I had a quick search earlier but I'll dig deeper!!

And travelmonkey, yeah, I've seen those, not sure I really like the look of them (just personal opinion :) ). I was just thinking about fitting the LED ones as I already have them really

Cheers,
Tim.

no probs, how did u get on, if u didn't find what u was looking for there is plenty of people on here to help u all we can

is yours an auto by any chance , as there is another route if u wish, but travelmonkey one is a good one ,

I actually got a loom like travel monkey a full Land Rover wiring loom for my 2002 , which was basically all plug in connections as well. took a little while to get my head round the fitting instructions, plenty cups of tea

the loom was to fit a pair of spots and a pair of fogs and used the brackets that i drilled and fixed i to the bumper

bought it off ebay as a left hand drive and only had to extend 4 x wires about 6 feet to take it to my rhd , came with everything including the smal, switch panel that gets fitted by ur drivers door dashboard

think it costs around £50 for the loom , mine is a pre facelift model

there are some on ebay , seen a few that have the lamps and the complete wiring loom with it , some for fogs or spots

I think there is a nudge that's cheao that bolts onto the front of facelift models but not too sure

I bought some square spots and fogs but are halogen ane fitted them though onto brackets

please always give us a shout if ur stuck as there's a huge amount of knowledgable people here

Thanks for all that info, mine is manual. Found loads of useful stuff on here, quite happy with the wiring aspect of it now.
Main issue now is where and how to actually mount the the lights. I have seen the brackets for sale that fit a pre facelift model, ie attach to bumper bar and poke out through grill but not for a facelift model.
I am in no rush to fit them, probably get it done over the next few months or at least for next winters deep dark nights!!! There's a few other things to do first...
Cheers for your help, as and when I fit the the lights I'll post back here with some pics

These are the ones I want to fit (off my L200)

Thanks Gary, very helpful

I think the nudge bar option is interesting. I think you were right in your linked post, rectangular lights would look better on a pre facelift.

I take it that you need to drill into bumper to fit those nudge bars?

Cheers
Tim
