Hi, guys... Its been quite a while

Well i ve got this chance to get a td5 or puma dashboard kit for my ol' 90.

Since the car is quite old compared to the dashboards, is it technically possible to fit these dashboards? That is without messing with the brackets

Will i be able to get the gauges, switches and lights from the td5 or puma dashboard working; if i fiddle with the harnesses and rearrange the wiring.
Since theres no electronic circuit or anything in mine..

As for the speedo I guess its cable operated in mine, so will a sensor from a Td5 fit my Lt77? and will that help me get a reading in the puma gauges as well?

Also will i be able to fit the gauges from the old dash into the td5 separately? I guess its impossible in the puma.

well thats a heap of questions!... Searched quite a lot but couldnt really get the answers.. hope you ll help.. thanks

I think it's a big job for little cosmetic gain, if any. A 2.5 N/A is to be considered as more of a tractor, or something that's solid, well engineered and kitted out primarily for purpose. Not necessarily something yummy-mummyfied! Leave her be and enjoy it as it's meant to be! It'd be like having a posh and fancy mercedes with a tractor engine!

Thanks guys for you advice, the thing is that my vehicle is an ex-mil, therefore the dash has been ruined, most parts are missing and partially damaged during the restore ..

Didnt pay much attention until i got her running.. but now i feel it needs attention..
The thing is landys are rare over here theres very lil' technical expertise here..
I was planning for a DIY job, well i m no land rover expert though..

i ve tried dissassembling the old dash, added relays to the wiring, and fixing it back was no problem..

What'd you guys think?

if you feel it's worth it go for it, solve each problem as it presents itself and then you can tell everyone how easy it is.Lee

Good luck mate, get photo'ing your project. It's nice to hear of our landies bouncing about in foreign lands :)

Thanks for your replies guys, Yeah i ll definitely get pix, n update the thread.. once i start.. may take a while though

I was planning to get a dash down from the uk (got relative there willin to help!), any idea how much it would cost in the uk? the purchase/retail price?
for ;
td5?
puma?

Well i feel the td5 is better suiting as i'd have better chances of making the gauges work or i can replace with the older ones and fit it into the fascia,
i guess its cheaper too.

no because puma dash looks like my 10 year old designed it on a bad day when he couldnt be arsed still with what is series coloumn shroud poking out heap of plastic all the bulkheads are dimensionally the same so would fit but td5 is as far as any one should go looks right for vehicle

Td5 dash will fit but you will need to do some messing with connections, speedo sensor from td5 should fit in to lt77, sure I saw somewhere on the net a how to do it guide, do a search on google should bring it up, as for puma dash I ain't got a clue:)
Good luck and get plenty of piccies

Here ya go I'm feeling generous Installing a Defender Td5 Instrument Pack into a 200Tdi/300Tdi - Land Rover Technical Blog
