Hi all I'm new on here but all the posts etc seem interesting, I have just bought a non running td5 commercial d2 at a reasonable price, the drawback a conrod has gone through the side of the block, previous owner had a brand new cylinder head so I guess all I need to do is fit a short block? anyone got any tips when doing this? have also thought about fitting an iveco engine? also does anyone know a good supplier for reckon blocks? would be grateful to hear from some of you!

Cheers

Adam

Pull the head first as the free piston may have damaged the head or valves thus writing it off as well.

Thanks for the reply should have the head off tomorrow! Thinking of doing a 300tdi conversion but I'm unsure how I'm going to stop all the dash lights coming on!

If the td5 was a good engine that could be worked on easily I wouldn't but I'd rather put some hours in now putting a decent reliable engine in that's cheap to maintain this ones on its second td5 engine so there's got to be something wrong with them..

Have just taken the engine out! Not only was there a hole in the block it had cracked as far down as the sump! 4 pistons are ok though..
