Fitting a Double Dinn GPS/DVD into dash

So hows it all going!?

Haven't had much time to do it this week so far but tomorrow afternoon is looking likely

haven't got a rear view cam yet but i'll run the cables for it back to the centre console ready for when i get one

can you remember???? do you need an aerial adapter or is it the standard one?

yep need an adapter for antenna to fit.

from an iso to a standard plug.

maplins do them, thats where i got mine.

Well after 3 hours of messing original unit back in

Bit of a mare as the previous owners had a smartnav system fitted so I had to uninstall all of this first and then start on the unit. also had to sort out the harman kardon amp as i had no sound (thought i'd got a hippo unit ) so spent an hour with the meter finding out how to get it working, thats all sorted now and sounds the dogs but my EPIC fail was.......forgetting to get a double din fascia plate!!! What a muppet I am lol so couldn't actually get the unit in the dash so i'll pick one up tomorrow hopefully and finish it all off on sunday...weather permitting lol

what a numpty, how could you forget the facia, i even posted a picture of mine to show you !

i know, i know

having trouble finding one locally today so far might have to get a single din plate and hack the cubbyhole off it lol

all the wiring is there and in place so just need the plate, fit it all in then set up the nav

can't see anywhere to change the pics so don't think these eonon's are as adpatable as angus/taz's units

Hk sounding pretty good actually, bit of a pain sorting it out but will be great once i've fettled the settings

right then, i'm off out to hunt down a facia plate....wish me luck!!!

oh...and my camera died lol

Marky, just order the din guard of Ebay, will only take a few more days to complete, nothing stopping you having unit fitted for now and take back out again when it arrives.

As for screensaver/background, you should be able to sort, try another way, put picture on CD/DVD play the picture then pause, and select copy/still. It should copy the image and then place on the internal memory so it's always there you can normally change as many times as you like.

fascia plate ordered from the bay...couldn't get one anywhere i'll wait til it arrives before i finish it all off, couldn't get it to sit right without the surround so it'll have to wait

no settings anywhere in the menu's to change pic/saver/background so i don't think its possible with these units

Changing picture on mine does not use any menu option.
I have to get a Jpeg file and rename it 'LOGO.HKK'
Save onto USB memory stick then insert into unit
Wait about 30 secs - say a few prayers
remove and Hey Presto! it should have worked

Re. The amp.
When i connected the unit with the included iso cable it appeared to work - booming from boot to confirm. What wires did you need to connect and to where?

re the wiring , did you have the 6 disc double din unit or the single din becker sat nav?

My unit was the single DIN Becker unit with HK Amp and 6 CD multichanger

thought so, thats why it was easy the becker is already standard iso whereas the one in ours is a stupid ford plug that you need to use an adapter for to change it to iso first....

well if its that easy is it fitted yet ???

hahaha..taz's was the easy fit mine took a bit of working out with a meter and some old wiring diags but all there in place ready for the facia plate whihc should be here today so (weather dependant of course ) i might finish it off today

Even "Blue Cheese" doesn't take this long!!
