Jesus man - what a welcome!
You ask a simple question and this is the response!
Good to see that new people are always welcome - you're a great advertisment!

At last - a straight answer. Thank you very much - that was all I was after.
I had searched through the forums, but didn't see that thread.
This is what 'noobies' need; help and advice not abuse!
And FYI MHM; I didn't realise the google tip was a link to another site!
Sorry for any offence...

Right, if you look down at the turbo standing on the nearside of your disco, its the pipe that runs from what looks like a piston on the side of the turbo going to the rubber hose on the front of it. It's quite short and its the only thin black pipe there.

Busterbus I read your instalation guide but mine doesnt look like that at all which is why I ask. I am fine to do the job just dont want to cut the wrong tube :D

on a discovery the pipe goes under the air intake hose, you will only see it if you remove the air intake hose, from the turbo intake, and airbox, the pipe that needs the T piece plugs into the wastgate, from the turbo, on like a brass nipple, it looks like fuel pipe, the pipe is about 8 inches long

Busters picture looks different as he probably has a 90 or 110, the turbo is higher up on those, by the looks of it

Hi Palace,
Not sure if I can help, but I've just fitted mine OK with the help of Busterbus photo.
Mine was very similar though...
There should be a 'piston' type arrangement on one side of the turbo with an arm linkage - this is the wastegate actuator.
It opens when the pressure gets to a certain point and prevents the turbo from blowing things up basically!
It should have a rubber pipe going to it - this is where I have teed my boost gauge into.
Actual parts may look different from posted photos but the arrangement should be the same...
Hope this helps some...

in the first picture is it the pipe with the bolt on the end of it ? just visible in the secont pic ?

thanks for this lads :)

The pipe you are referring to (with the bolt on the end) looks to me like the oil pipe that lubricates the turbine bearing.
It's different from my 200 TDI but I believe they both have oil lubricated bearings.
The pipe you want will most likely be a rubber one and will connect to the wastegate actuator somewhere...
As per new2landies post, check under the air intake hose...

thanks cheese_aholic this is bizare i really cant see it i have looked on diagrammes etc. but nothing I am sure it is staring me in the face :)

Can you remove the air intake hose (the big black one) and possibly the air outlet hose (the grey one) and see if that reveals anything?
May help a bit to be able to see all round the turbo...

i can see under it (not with the camera lol ) and can see nothing :) it isnt the braided hose in the pictures is it ?

It MIGHT be - certainly on mine though the braided hose is the oil pipe for lubricating the bearing.
The only other place you could tee into will be where the air enters the engine - the inlet manifold.
This will be at the end of the grey (turbo air outlet) pipe where it goes into the engine.
I've read that you can tee off the boost gauge here - ideally in the inlet manifold itself but also possible in the rubber pipe before it enters the manifold.
Always an option if you're struggling at the turbo end?
Anyone else have an opinion on this?

read posts...you won't see it unless you take the turbo intake/airbox pipe off!!!

drilling and tapping the plenum is best done off the car, otherwise nice bits of ally are going to end up in the engine, taking the boost from there is more accurate, but the work doesn't outweigh what difference it makes to the reading, the easiest way has been explained throughout this whole thread, if you can't manage that, i wouldn't bother to be honest
