First Time Starting

Didn't have time to take a look tonight, was trying to fix my Disco but managed to F!!CK that too

. Took some quick pics of Tappets will post them on later. Tried a couple with gauge though and they seemed really Tight

Done the Tappets tonight and I Think it sounds better, the loud knock on my second and third Vid seems to have quietened , or gone, what do yous think ?
Gonna check other things mentioned over the next few days.

Didn't have time to try Mate but will do. I let it run for a good 5 Minuets and it cut out as the battery went dead, Is this normal as I thought the Alternator would be charging it??

Being a diesel the battery voltage should not make it stop unlike a petrol needing a spark,, if it cuts out my guess would be air getting in the fuel lines to filter or injection pump

while it’s running if you check with voltmeter on battery is a good check, is charge light going out or not yet wired up

sounds better than it did i presume a tappet was very tight or very loose

Another thought if wiring still not sorted properly perhaps a short flattened battery and stopped power to fuel solenoid

Not yet wired up, but Battery did go flat as checked with Volt meter and had to jump start it when I put it back on Disco.

Thanks, Making me fell a bit better now, but still think it has some other noises going on, gonna check everything over the next few days. Another thing I noticed is there is a small bit of play on the adjuster nut for fan belt , is this normal ?

It needs the charge light wiring up for the alternator to start charging as that lead supplies 12v to alternator so it makes lots of amps

I’ve got the 200tdi not the same set up, but do you mean that pulley is a l bit wobbly and won’t tighten with bolt

OK Thanks , Which wire is it Mate,? I have wires going to Alternator not sure if I have missed one.

There is slight play as you move it in and out, ie towards you then back in again.

till its fully boxed up,acoustic cover on and bonnet shut they do sound a little clanking ticking over ,especially if not been run for awhile
the belt tensioner nut should be tight,and with a spanner on the pulley nut the pulley should pull away from belt tight but smooth

On mine it’s yellow\brown but may be different , you need the wiring diagram I think @mystery has a few he pulls out when required

large brown to b+ thin brown yellow to d+

I have the large Browns to number 1 and the thin Brown and Yellow to number 2 , is that right ? I suspect the thin one could maybe have broke, as it had a few cracks in and I just taped it up,

i cant see from the pic but they will have b+ and d+ and w marked you need b and d
