Freelander 2 (LR2) First time battery change - Help!

Freelander 2 2011 SDXS
Battery flat and beyond saving so I plan to try and change the battery myself
Easy for the folks who are in the know but I'm a first timer
I've read previous posts and watched a few videos but a few questions remain
Will the alarm go off when battery comes out
Will I loose the central lock setting
I don't ever remember a radio code and I've had the FL from new, will I loose the radio
If I try to connect the new battery to the terminals, with jump leads, and try to keep power on this way, is it worth trying
My wife is betting I'll mess it up and call a garage to help so don't want that to happen!

This is a few threads below yours. I thought I was seeing double!! It addresses some of the unnecessary complexity of changing a battery on a FL2.

It's pretty easy to change the battery in the FL2.
Always remove the negative terminal first (closest to the windscreen), followed by the positive terminal.
The battery clamp will need unscrewing, so the battery can be lifted out.

Fit the new one, making sure the negative terminal is closest the windscreen, then bolt the battery clamp back down.
Connect the positive terminal first, and only do the terminal clamp up tight enough to secure the lead, so it can't be moved by hand.
Once the positive is secured, then connect the negative quickly, without messing about, just slap it on quickly. Again only tightening the terminal clamp bolt tight enough to prevent the terminal from moving.
There's no need to over-tighten battery terminals, as long as you can't move them on the posts, then they're tight enough.

You'll need to recalibrate the windows and sunroof, after the battery has been replaced, but nothing else should be affected.

Just finished the battery change
Much easier than I expected!
Apart from my mobile ringing just I was connecting the positive, I jumped high thinking I'd shorted it
All in all 15 mins and saved a few £s
