So, the time has almost come where i can start looking for my first landy! it'll be within the next month or 2! :D

I'm looking for a manual 300tdi disco, preferably the ES model (upgrading from a Rover mini) would quite like some creature comforts - even if they aren't likely to work?!

Hoping to spend around £1000ish and ideally want one with a reasonably long MOT and that isn't going to fall apart rust wise? Would quite like it to be original so that i get the fun :der: of fitting and upgrading parts!

I'm not shy from doing any minor work, but nothing too major as i only have a stoney drive and no jack suitable for one.

Does this sound possible for my budget? Am i going to have to either save up more, or lower my expectations?

Have been looking around on here/other forums/gumtree/fleabay/auto trader for some, but nothing seems to be what i'm looking for? Is there anymore places i can look over the coming weeks?

I'm not sure landrovers do cars without rust do they.

I would look to getting a td5 if you can but it depends what your going to do with it.
 
Don't want the TD5 because of the problems and too many electric thing it relies on to run! And they're also most costly to improve due to ECU remapping. Plan is to go offroading every so often, but also having a comfy car for on the road :)
 
Maybe i should rephrase "that isn't going to fall apart rust wise" too : with minimal rust, that i don't have to worry about for a year or 2 :)
 
you may need to lower your expectations on the model you want or save a bit more.

It is coming up to the time prices drop due to the weather so you should get a solid motor for your money but maybe not the spec.
 
Okay cheers. I was also thinking about getting a lower spec then buying the interior from someone breaking one, how hard is it to fit it all and wire everything up? Are all the wires there, or will they need fitting too?
 
They are around, the best place I recommend looking is local paper etc as they have less viewers so you stab a better chance of purchasing one at a reasonable price, whereas on eBay a "good" one will attract a lot of attention. But rest assured they do exist for the sort I money you are talking, you will just have to be patient and the right one will come along, I will on you if anything comes up that I see.
