Started respraying the defender matte black last night, never done it before so decided to start off with the bonnet, had a look at it this morning, and im delighted with the results!! Came out really well, and not patchy at all....
will upload some pictures this evening :)

Nice one - I was thinking of doing my defender matt black and fitting a black soft top to it. Looking fwd to seeing the results and method you used.

I have a picture of it half dry and one of it at 6 this morning before i left for work, so neither are a particularly good representation but the finish came out very well.

Seeing as there was very little work needed to get the bonnet ready to paint i started with that, a light sanding down to get a good surface for the paint to grab, wiped it down well with a damp cloth, dried it and primed anywhere that metal was visable. Then three coats of matte black, which i was able to get out of one 500ml can of halford finest :D
will see if i can upload a picture from the fone give me a minute...

Here we go :)

Haha i kind of noticed that ratty, when i got dirty paw prints all over the bonnet putting it back on :D ill persevere though, the colour looks nice enough to put in the time cleaning it :) and yep, rattle cans!

didnt see it in halfrauds mind you, but im sure ill pick it up somewhere, definitely worth a look though! for the moment ive to prioritise the chassis, started cleaning it down to see how bad the rot is.... starting to wish i had left it alone :D

Halfords do sell it cos I bought some a few months back to spray my works vehicles wheel arches.

I bought 12 cans of matt black spray paint off ebay for 20 quid 2 summers ago, spent about 5 hours spraying up the landy, was a pretty good finish and was still looking fairly decent after a year or so. could probably do with a touch up now, but you cant really tell as the mud normally covers the red coat below!
