It's been driven like it's stolen in war zones for the last 15 years by thousands of different squaddies. I'm sure an extra 700 miles from you isn't going to kill it :D

Hi
The only things I have had to do, replace the oil filler cap oil leaking through the bad seal. & put a new diesel cap on the original leaking out diesel every where, so far that's it.

Well maintained trucks and built to last, just not cared for by most their past driver's. Although I have noticed a couple of places where mastic has been used in place of gaskets on mine.

We loved em in the army, so much better than the wolf replacement, 9 years and many a war zone and never stuck once.
I looked after a fleet of 16, meticulous services and well maintained so although driven hard at times if they needed parts they got them, never had one even break down, even 6 weeks in Canada at -45 didn't upset them although properly set up for the climate, truly great vehicles

Yeah mine has got mastic in some places lol. The gearbox and all round the windscreen.

The thing I can't get my head around with the ex-mil TUL and TUM land rovers is the chassis. Mine is better than some vehicles 10 or more years newer. Do they get jet washed a lot or something?

I know what your saying the chassis on mine 18 yrs. old looks better than my td5 90 10 yrs. old

Yes, vehicles washed after any exercise off-road at a vehicle wash down, depending on how long we were away the vehicles would be washed while on exercise then on return to the camp, then usually during the next week they were inspected, all fluids topped up or replaced on vehicles ready for service anyway, pretty well looked after really

I must say that if i get rid of mine at any point and look for a replacement.. this is the direction i will go in.
There much better maintained than your average farmers vehicle.. and, well, what's not to love about them really.

Hi Flat
where do you stow the jack on yours I know mines a 110 & might be different,
when I picked it up it was just chucked under the seat box & crashing about.

i store mine under the seatbox in the little boxed area next to the battery box, i also have the wheelnut wrench in there to. I keep some towing strops in there to and use those to wedge the jack in to stop it rattling. The big T bar thing to use with the jack i have got some spring clips rivetted onto the bulkhead behind the seats and that clips in there

Mine was perched between the bottom gun mounts which were left in and the handle and wrench behind the seat. I'll have to find a tidier solution at some ponit but this works and dont rattle.
