re battery keeps going flat, disconnected lead from rf reciever, started ok yesterday morn, used most of day, went to start this morning f----ng thing dead as a dodo again.it looks like i will have to bite the bullet & book it in to the r/r dealers to get it sorted? & relieve me of my hard earned £££££££££££££s. or is there anybody lives near oxford who could maybe help with problem? its doing my head in. £2000 spent in last 3 months, eas&ecu + new battery 3 months ago. 4th range rover, maybe the last?????????:( :( :(

have you tested how much power the car is drawing when left? this could give you an indication of what is using the power.

do a search on here, there is info on how much power should be drawn when left and locked i.e over night!

I agree with Gav - a simple multi-meter and an afternoon should help.

You need to find out what the vehicle is drawing when off and locked. Have you checked the fusebox for signs of corrosion and/or burnt relays?? Ive seen a P38 at my specialists that kept having the same problem as you do and it turned out to be a damaged relay for the heated screen, meant it was on all the time busily sucking juice from the battery and constantly flattening it.

Where abouts near Oxford are you?? I travel to Oxford nearly every week from Northampton so if you were really stuck I wouldn't mind popping in and lending a hand. Where abouts are you nearish??

you could take out fuses/relays to heated screen and things like that, take it down to bare essentials and maybe put them back one system at a time till finally it goes flat again! might take a bit of time to sort but it should prove the theory. it's also cheaper than going to stealers!!

don't know how the becm would react to pulling fuses. it might kick off and warn you that the ??? system has blown a fuse.

mine has issue with front heated screen flattening battery, pull both screen fuses. I suspect either the fuse box or the screen earth under windscreen wiper plastic.
haven't done anything with it as too cold and waiting to sort brake modulator as plastic is breaking up

Hi there, I am not sure if you had your issue solved yet or not, my 99 range rover just had the same type of symptoms and drove me nuts trying everything under the sun to figure it out. Turns out it was really simple, the alternator needed to be rebuilt. The brushes and bearings inside the alternator wear hard in the rovers. really easy to fix, and did it myself, not engine inclined, only computer inclined.

I went to pdftown.com and got a full servicing manual for my specific vehicle and it showed me how to do it, couple bolts, and had the alternator rebuilt by a shop in less than half a day. $86 U.S. dollars later it is running stronger than before!

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

if it is front screen you will not find it with a normal meter as disconnecting battery to test resets it,just pull both front screen fuses

What model is it on ???? I had similar problem on L322, it was an easy fix in the end. if it is this model do search (top right corner) for 'L322 battery'
