hello

been ofered a 51 plate v6 with buggered engine cheap

i am looking to convert to a td4 as i have all the bits on a rolled one

1) will the tools to remove the prop from a K series 1.8 be the same as these on the V6???

2) can an auto be towed using an A frame approx 100 miles?

3) what is the tax on the V6 is it the same as the 1.8

cheers dean

No you can't tow an auto 100 miles on an A frame. You can tow most autos 30 miles at 30mph.

If it is an unbraked A frame you can tow it to the nearest place of safety only.

Wouldn't recommend towing it that distance unless you're happy with changing the transmission too..

Not sure about the tax - recent budget debacle has left me none-the-wiser!

Another thing to consider - if changing from v6 to TD4 will that have log book implications - could be problematic for insurance/tax in future. I'm sure others will have been through this before so there maybe some more info here on the forums.

At present a 51 plate the tax will be the same as a 1.8 (£205?) but it is one of the vehicles that would have been bumped into a higher tav band. Who knows if that has just been postponed, or dropped. TD4 auto is in the same situation.
