FBH remote switch

The one with the timer from Maplin that the other guy mentioned would be good, then it wouldn't run and run if you forgot to turn it off (say if your plans changed and you didn't go out, would save it emptying your tank). Can't find it on the maplin site though

I think I might be the other guy?
Anyway, the kit you have is rated 6 amps max, and the FBH draws more, so if you use that you will need a second relay in the circuit.

This is how I did it, using this kit from Maplins, which also required a second relay....

As above, it runs for 5 minutes iirc, then stops, so no flat battery or other problems if I forgot it.

Yep you're the other guy, forgot your name, sorry mate :D

Thanks for the link to Maplin & to your write-up.
One day I'll figure out how to filter the searches!

Hopefully I'll be able to get this fitted before the cold weather really sets in!

Hi ses88
Don't know if its possible if you could draw me a wiring diagram how to wire in the vm 130 remote reciever to run the fbh I think this as to include an extra. Relay? I am a total dead head when it comes to wiring. I have purchaced the remote + a 4 pin 30amp relay. (Freelander 1 td4)
If possible could you please mail to me [email protected]
Best Regards
colinm

You do not need another relay to operate the fbh as it draws its operating power from the engine bay fusebox, the switching power is minimal.
See wiring diagram and legend, page 702,(page 22 on pdf)
http://www.suremarine.com/manuals/webasto-repair-manuals/tsl17-repair.pdf

X2- 2 pin connector from engine bay.

X1- 6 pin connector-
pin1-power to switch on from switch/timer/remote
pin2-diagnostics
pin3-from outside temp sensor
pin4-to trigger relay for cabin heater fan
pin5-to summer/winter switch
pin6-to fbh fuel pump

All you need to do for basic operation without the engine running is to get power to pin 1 of the six pin connector.
This can be either a manual switch, timer, or remote.

The easiest way to get the fan to operate on a MY01> is to fit a relay in parallel with the existing fan relay in the engine bay fusebox, but triggered by pin4 of the fbh.
This will bring the fan on full when the water temperature in the fbh reaches, I think, 60 degrees.
Leave the fan switch in the off position so power cannot feed to anything else though.

I'm also using the Maplin kit dave recommends.

I'm not using a second relay though, I'm using the kit to provide 12v to pin 3 on the FBH plug (timer set to 15 mins), it's working really well.
